A small compilation of nurse anesthesia care plans

These anesthesia care plans are meant to inspire nurse anesthesia residents when they are making their care plans. Always make sure you fully understand and "own" your care plan. Your plan must be specific for your patient and should always be with the most up-to-date information.

Check machine

Prepare masks with a filter           

  • Remove plastic from masks

Mouthpieces

Oral airways

Tongue blades

EKG pads

Draw up drugs

  • Zemuron (Rocuronium) 0.5ml in 1cc syringe, labeled
    • Minimizes fasciculations

Drug from pharmacy

  • Amidate, Brevitol, Succinylcholine

Note

  • Succinylcholine relaxes skeletal muscle, but facial muscles still contract with local stimulation, which is one reason for a bite block

Bite block between teeth, tongue out of the way.

Lift mask when giving a shock, BUT hold chin up and tight to prevent dislodgement of the mandible

Start IV, 22G is ok

Give glycopyrrolate 0.2mg IV when done and chart on the anesthesia record
